In the UK, colleagues tend to respect personal boundaries; will often be particularly polite, to a fault. It might be difficult to know something is wrong. The politeness can even be interpreted as arrogance because “being polite is superior to being frank” It might therefore sometime be difficult to get useful feedback about mistakes or things to correct. You have to be very receptive/sensitive to those imperceptible signs they send to say they are not amused, or annoyed at a situation. The British were often joking about German rudeness….”
