From SPAIN about GERMANY

As a Mediterranean, I have a particularist view of the laws and rules, meaning I accept they are applicable most of the time, but can be adapted in a particular case if conditions require it. It is shocking for me to work in countries with a strong generalist view of rules (like Germany), where these rules have to be applied always no matter what. Questioning this generates a strong reaction. I was once told my German boss “We are not here to discuss the rules”, and the conversation was over. “It also generates a strong reaction in me when I have to modify a project (increasing cost and/or delay), because of a rule I find was not meant to be applied to the current situation.”
